Halloween can be a scary time for our diets. Sweet treats pop up everywhere—in store aisles, at our offices and in our kids’ trick-or-treating baskets. If you’re tempted by Halloween candy (who isn’t?), consider making some healthy Halloween-themed foods instead. By having healthy snacks on hand, you and your family may be less inclined to overdo it with the candy. Here are some fun fall/Halloween-themed treats to inspire you:

**Banana ghosts **
Banana ghosts are super simple! Just peel a banana, cut it in half and add some dark chocolate chips for the ghost eyes and nose. There are lots of variations on [Pinterest](https://www.pinterest.com/explore/banana-ghosts/?lp=true)—you can also coat them in white chocolate or add a stick to make a banana pop.

**Clementine pumpkins **
These [pumpkins with celery stems](https://brendid.com/tangerine-pumpkin-8-healthy-halloween-snack/) are adorable and provide a healthy dose of vitamin C. To make them, peel a seedless orange (clementines or tangerines work well) and top it with a celery stick with the leaf still attached.

**Cinnamon-baked pumpkin
**Throwing a Halloween party? Try [cinnamon-baked pumpkin](http://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/259396/cinnamon-baked-pumpkin/%20http://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/259396/cinnamon-baked-pumpkin/) wedges as a healthy appetizer.

Toss pumpkin or winter squash with oil and then sprinkle on a mix of brown sugar, cinnamon or salt before baking.

**Monster apples
**To make [monster apples](https://www.popsugar.com/moms/photo-gallery/32063915/image/32063922/Monster-Apple-Bites), cut a wedge into an apple (without cutting all the way through.) Next, fill it with some peanut butter and place almond slivers along the edge to look like teeth.

**Pumpkin spice apple chips
**The obsession with pumpkin-spice-everything just keeps growing each fall. [Pumpkin spice apple chips](http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking-101/how-to-make-apple-chips) make for a healthy dessert and will have your house smelling like fall while they’re baking! Just sprinkle cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves on thinly sliced apples and bake until crisp.

**Spider toast
**This isn’t a sweet treat, but tasty (and fun!) nonetheless. To make [spider toast](https://blog.hellofresh.com/8-healthy-halloween-treats-for-kids/), spread goat cheese on a baguette slice. Next, cut a black olive in half to create a spider’s back. Then slice olives lengthwise into eight pieces to create four spider legs on each side.

**Cheesy broomsticks
**For another savory snack, try [cheesy pretzel broomsticks](http://allrecipes.com/recipe/257582/pretzel-broomstick/). Grab a few sticks of string cheese and cut frayed ends into them to look like a broom. Then poke a pretzel stick through the top of the cheese. Tie a chive or strip of spinach around it to look extra realistic.

**Apple roll-ups
**If you’re really craving candy, you can make your own—like these [apple-cinnamon fruit roll-ups](http://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a55795/apple-cinnamon-fruit-roll-ups-recipe/). Place peeled apple pieces in a saucepan with water, sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon. Blend the mixture in a food processor and spread onto a baking sheet to cook until dried out.
